Get the Facts!

You may have noticed my opponent has begun launching hits against me. Unfortunately for Marty, it seems he is not privy to a lot of the information needed for such attacks, as factual errors are abundant in his mud-slinging campaign.

This page is here to correct those errors.

Marty's Claim: Derek voted for $500 million in new taxes in 2005.

The Facts: Derek opposed the estate tax and sin taxes in '05. The legislature did vote for $500 million in new taxes in 2005, but Derek voted against them.

Marty's Claim: Derek voted for a 33% increase in state spending from 2005-2008.

The Facts:
Derek opposed the $800 million revenue bill this year.

Per OFM (double check) inflation adjusted per capita spending has stayed relatively flat.
Derek wasn't only the rated top scoring Democrat in the past 4 years from the Business Institute of Washington, he was the top scoring legislator (Republican or Democrat.)
